Hi world, life's pretty ______ these days.

J2 life is quite lepak than what I expected. Prolly the exam stress is still not slammed in my face yet.

And the NY competition is coming. Still not sure if I'm going, but most likely, I'm not. (Parents have the ability but are not willing to pay =X)

Today I just received 25 packs of Cookies to sell. 1 pack for SGD2. From what I see, I think we will earn a profit of about 1 buck for every pack sold. Furthermore, the target number to be sold is 1000 packs. This would mean the cookie sales would bring only a profit of SGD1K - which is slightly less than one-third of the whole trip PER PERSON. Not worth selling the cookies IMO. The profits are just not worth for all the administrative costs, etc.

Whatever. I don't think I'm going to perform in the 'world-famous' Carnegie Hall, and that's that.

CT1 is just 6 weeks away.. I better start my ass on some work, lest I screw up real bad.

Argh.

Resolution for the year

The previous post was kinda short due to the fact that I can't use the PC too long -need to study for Econs reassessment. By the way, Econs reassessment was easier than expected IMO. Think it's some sort of morale booster.. Just mug your life off during the December vacation and you are assured of getting an A. Too bad I spent my holidays on other (fruitful) activities..

Sigh. Time flies. Another 2 more semesters (8 months to be exact), and I'm out of high school.

My resolution for this year:
- Get more sleep.
- Study smart, and hard.
- Exercise smart.
- Be happy, and confident.
- Hope to get good grades on my A level certificate, 'cos I really need a nice cert. Imagine just 2 subjects on your O level cert. People will just think you are some screwed up kid in secondary school, having to take only 2 subjects.

That's all I think.

SAT was fine on the whole, except for the essay, which was the FIRST section out of the TEN sections. How demoralising can it be. Seriously no idea on how well/bad I will do.

On a side note, NSSN is just a week away (actually less than a week) and I haven't pass the tickets to all my S46 classmates. Oh man, I gotta sell 20 tickets. Thank goodness Po Liang's helping me clear 10 of them.

Once I'm on my desk, I would switch my PC on.

And once I'm online, it usually last for at least 2 and a half hours.

The angel in me keeps telling me to do productive things - read the newspapers, complete my tuition work, go work out, play soccer with my neighbourhood, watch Discovery Channel, yada yada.

But the devil in me just keeps telling me to switch on the computer and play and stone and waste time.

Probably the only way to solve this addiction of mine is to plug off the router.

My life has been revolving around 3 things these days: Band, SAT and Econs.

So, the SAT preparation is kinda screwed? I need to rush and start brushing up on English and Math topics real soon, since the exam is on Dec 1. And regarding Econs, I only start doing things about it during Tuition. Looks like I need to dedicate the whole of Dec to prepare for the R. Zzz.

Let's talk about band, which is obviously more... you know, fun. Yes, fun is the word.

Yesterday, the saxophone section had a workshop with the Kansas University Professor of Saxophone, Prof. Vince Gnojek. He's quite a good teacher, except for the fact that we only had 2 hours with him, with the 1st hour being spent on his biography (which I can, in fact, google it), all his saxophone gears and stuff (which is again, pointless and a waste of time IMO).

But the next hour was fruitful. So, yeah.

So the long weekend is coming to an end, and promotional examinations are around the corner.

Sigh, time really flies. I'm 17 already and Singapore's 42. Happy belated birthday, Singapore.
I didn't really spend these few days mugging in a locked room (although I haven't tried it out yet), instead I spend quite some time on thinking, what makes me Singaporean?

First thing that came to my mind was 'Singlish' - the Singaporean way of speaking English. I used to remember how Singaporeans 'condemn' Singlish, like all the 'Speak Good English' Campaigns and stuff, but today it seems to me that Singlish is very much heralded, it is something which many Singaporeans are proud of today. It is kinda interesting to see how people's mindsets shift.

The second thing that came to my mind was while I was playing soccer with a bunch of buddies (Chunhan, Subra, Cleaven, Nick, Nazri, Lau, Louis, did I miss out anybody?) at the street soccer court at Marine Terrace. I arrived there quite late, and I saw most of my friends there playing with a group of (half naked, not to mention, abs-less) Malays. All of them had a good time playing street soccer together, and the rules were which team concedes 5 goals first will have to get off the court. Needless to say, we won. I was kinda expecting some breeze of unhappiness among those Malays, but they were great sportsmen - they left the court happily without any disatisfaction. There is no boundaries within people of different races today in Singapore, like how skin colour used to determine who is the weakest and stuff. There is racial tolerance among all of us. And this tolerance and embracement of racial harmony is something which I'm kinda proud of being a Singaporean.

Today's soccer at Marine Terrace was fun, although I wasn't physically and mentally on form - just needed something to release the stress I've been holding to myself these days. And the goal scored by me was damn TYCO.

I'd rather have this tyco-ness on my academic results. GP missed the passing grade E by 1 mark, Chem missed a grade jump from an E to a D by 1 mark (And worse still, my name is on the list (the bottom few) outside the chem labs.), Math missed a grade jump from a B to an A, and Econs missed the passing grade by 2 marks.

Seriously. It's a bad gauge of your knowledge - using exam results as a yardstick to determine whether you are smart or not is totally absurd, IMO.

It's just a test of how you manage your time, your concentration.

Argh. Come to think about it again, there's no point ranting. 'Cos the final lap is the A Levels and I am so not gonna screw it up (like how I screwed this Mid-Years).

Physically tired, but mentally awake. Band started from 8 am and ended at around 5 pm.
Had exchange with HCI (again) but it was held in VJC this time round.

Sometimes the world is just so small. I met my primary school conductor Mr Quek Boon Hui and a primary school band friend of mine, who is currently studying in HCI. Time really flies.

This should be all for this update. There would be a sound check at Singapore Conference Hall tomorrow, and I hope that we will continue to sound good, and possibly better. SYF is this coming Friday!

My JC life is at an extreme fast pace now. Practically reaching home at around 9+ every night, instead of the usual 5 pm last year. SYF, SPA, VJCSB Exco Elections, and all the tutorials! What the...

By the way, FM 93.8 LIVE came down to VJ today, and the discussions were about issues pertaining to the relevance of JC life to future work life, and regarding issues like study for grades/passion/fun/whatever. Looking at the feedbacks by various peers, I was actually quite cynically amused by some of them when they actually felt that mugging is not for the sake of grades.

I had planned to complete ALL my tutorials, revision, assignments today since it is Good Friday.
But only Math Arithmetic Progression stuff were completed. I seriously need to focus not only on quality, but also on speed.

My focus for studies this year is seriously atrocious. I need to work on it. I lack the time to actually sit down and relax, think, and reflect these days. OH HELL YES, TIME MANAGEMENT IS THE SOLUTION.

Revival

It's been a long, long time since I last blogged. Many things have happened and changed, for the better, and for the worse. All these come and go like a flash of light.

I wish I could rewind time, go back to the past where everything were back to the good old days, where there were no stress, no intense competition, no childish politics, or whatsoever.

Okay, before I go on emo-ing, I better start off with proper blogging. The IP3 Overseas Leadership Camp at Terengganu was one major event that happened. Aside from suffering from all the painful sunburns and muscle aches resulting from kayaking, trekking the waterfall, etc, this camp had really enlightened me on what leadership is all about, and shown me one ugly fact of life - all humans (I am not excluding myself) are selfish by nature. Finally, I believe in Thomas Hobbes, that all humans are inherently evil.

Secondly, regarding Young Defence Scientist Programme (YDSP), I regretted not putting much effort into the attachment and stuff during the whole of December '06 vacation, such that I can complete the poster which is worth 2 months' worth of work in just a mere 30 minutes.

And lastly, after 2 years and 4 months in VJCSB, I finally picked up the courage to actually get a set of executive committee (EXCO) nomination form and actually apply for presidency. Although the odds of me succeeding in this 'election' is extremely low (with other nominees with somewhat GREAT leadership capabilities), I am trying out to prove my worth after being just a member, receiving all the welfare and benefits from the past 3 exco batches for two years.

The SMU Advance Placement (AP) course is seriously a chore, in my opinion. But everything ends on the 14 April, and I can go back on for Sat pracs.

Three words to describe my current lifestyle:

Stressful. Boring. Unfulfilling.

Plain sad. JC life is seriously making me procrastinate more and more and more.

Why do I say so?

I never do my Chemistry tutorial for stoichiometry 'cause I didn't feel like doing.
I wrote in my planner that I must complete my YDSP report by third week no matter what, but till today, it's not done. (It's to be handed in by this wednesday and it HAS to be endorsed by my mentor.) And so on...

It's damn stressful nowadays. I want to accomplish many things, but it seems to me that 24 hours per day is seriously not enough.

Look, there's also a Financial Accounting Quiz the next coming saturday and I don't really understand any of the key terms. It's like taking a test which is in a non-understandable foreign language. Plus the group project regarding StarHub's financial statements.

Okay. Enough of ranting.

Off to tutorials and mugging and chionging to finish my report.

Hey world.

Read many people's blogs and I hear them ranting away, saying how bored they are, how rotten they are becoming.

So here's my list of some boliao (also known as nothing better to do) stuff you can do while you are bored, rotting away at home.

1. Take a glass of water, hold it in your hands, focus on the surface of the water and make sure while you are holding the cup, there would be no vibration or any motion. Just keep it still. Time yourself for 5 minutes. Followed by 10. Followed by 20. Followed by an hour.

2. You can also take a bus, for example, Bus 55 from Bishan all the way to Siglap and back to Bishan.

3. Look into the mirror and smile to yourself for as long as you can. Just keep smiling.

4. If you are rich, buy a few lousy guitars and try to smash them up to pieces.

5. You can also try riding a bike with your eyes closed.

6. Go to IRC (Internet relay chat) and pose as some young teenage girl/boy. (Ahem..)

7. You can buy NSSN tickets from ME!

The last update was 31 Oct. And today's 27 November. Nearly ONE month since I last updated!

Okay. I'm now blogging at the Laser Lab down at NUS. You know something, I alighted at Clementi MRT and have to take Bus 96 at the interchange to my designated place. Bus 96 is a bus that goes into NUS and make a loop back to the interchange. And you know what! I SLEPT THROUGHOUT the bus journey and I was back at the interchange. Sigh. What a waste of time and money.

Life's been quite hectic nowadays. There's loads of band practices coming up, loads of research to do, loads of work to revise on. And I haven't been playing much, as compared to the others who are DOTAing all the way.

Will update more frequently.

Wtf. Went to Marine Parade National Library to study (and also .... , you know, haha). All the way from 1200 to 1530.

Anyway, the mainstream peeps just finished their Chemistry practicals.

Sigh, they are preparing for 8 - 9 subjs and majority of them are getting straight As ah.

Damn scary. And I also feel damn ashamed of myself.

Only 2 papers to prepare for and I can't even achieve an A. That's disappointing.

Okay, so it took 4 minutes for this page to load completely.

4 minutes is long. Considering my internet connection runs at a speed of 10.0Mbps.

So today is the final formal lesson for German at MOELC.

4 years of fun and pain.

These 4 years flew past really fast.

I could still vividly remember the day where I registered and purchased my first German textbooks. And also the day when I met Thana, who was one of my kindergarten friends 6 years back then, which is about 10 years ago from now. Time really flies.

Whenever I look at a clock, focusing on the second hand, noticing how each second ticks away, I sort of feel that time is passing REALLY slowly, really really slowly.

So slow yet so fast.

Oh man, I am already 16 years old.

I really hate the feeling of nostalgia.

Went to see a ENT doctor on Monday to have a checkup on my left ear. 'Cos there are just some problems with it, so...

My left ear is suffering from hyper accutis. Some reflex action (recall Bio homeostasis) that causes a 'Click' sound.

Anyway, that is not the main point I am trying to bring about here. After the consultation, he actually asked me what college I am from and blah blah...

So he knows my situation, whether to take Physics or Bio.

He advised me NOT to take bio, and NOT to become a doctor.

Why?

He claimed that he graduated at 1990, and then went for more further studies, and researches and in 2004, he then first stepped to the working force and set up his own clinic. Also, he wants to retire by the age of 50.

Crazy, isn't it? It took FOURTEEN years just to complete what it takes to set up his own private clinic.

I didn't pass my Social Studies. And I scrapped a pass for Lang Arts. Phew.

My results just tell me something, either I didn't put in enough effort for these 2 subjects, or I am just not cut out to be good at the humanities. But apparently, I think the latter is a more precise reason on why I am not doing too well in the humanities.

Physics, Chemistry, Math and Economics. That's settled. Cos' the only A's I've got is the former 3. So, yeah.

Oh, and I just realised there's a word verification thingy! What a pain in the ass. I have to try 2 times and my whole computer's lagging.

THE EXAMS ARE FINALLY OVER. Phew. I doubt I will fare well this time round though. But bad news aside, I got into the YDSP research on some laser removal of coating layer on stealth planes! And that means that the whole of the upcoming holidays I'd be damn busy again. First, there's still Chinese and German Os. And next, this research programme. Lastly, NSSN concert. Oh yes, and for the Prom concert with Desmond, Daniel, etc. And I HAVE NOT submitted my RM report! Oh no.

Okay. So the Sept hols begin. Looking at the amount that I have to revised on, seriously, I was like... WTF? Like for physics, we already have like 20 plus topics to revise on lah. And for biology, although it has been shrunk from 16 plus topics to 12 topics, there is still loads to study, no, to mug for.

The scariest of all is still Math. There are so many topics that I didn't even bothered counting the number of topics. And most importantly, Math requires constant practising. It cannot be revised on the last minute. Ah! The whole world's falling.

I told my mom that I am afraid of screwing up my exams. But she said, "You shouldn't be doing badly right? Provided you waste your time fooling around."

How consoling man. I don't FOOL AROUND. I just feel damn lazy after going through a subject thoroughly. That's all.

Oh yah, I have started my revision already! (yes, I have done my chinese mock paper.)

It is like the scenario where things have been going on quite smoothly, then all of a sudden, it just crash onto you for no fucking reason. Just like a car crash. Really. I am scared.

Yeah. Finally. But this doesn't mean I'm very free or what. I'm just sick of work for the time being. So here is the update.

This week is okay. As in, it's just the normal week we usually have. I was kinda expecting a mass flow of tasks and assignments. Like 7 terms in the VIP, it seemed that week 8 was always the most hectic week.

We had photoshoot for the project rewind thingy on Wednesday. I actually thought about doing a lame pose or smth during Chem. And guess what I did? I shan't tell you till you see the picture. Haha. After that, Ganesh, Subra, Wilbur and I went for some physics talk by Astro Club peeps. Although one of the presenter was quite bad (shall not state name, but I really wonder how he could get pass the PW?), I was totally astonished to see that there are other Suns 10^100000 (not so exaggerated actually, but you get my point?) times bigger than the Sun we currently know. And we know that the Earth is another 10^10000 times smaller than the Sun we know. So, we are actually much smaller than bacteria in the whole universe.

I can't believe that we humans are totally so insignificant in the universe. If the Earth were to be microwaved (like 'the Core' the movie) and every one of us were to burn to death and the whole Earth collapses, it would just be softer than a clap in the entire universe. The idea of this really sends chills down my spine.

Okay. Enough of Wednesday. Let's talk about Thursday. PE was great. We played hockey with some funny stick. So with Thana 'sick' and Zhao Chen, Shao Sheng and Henry ponning, the game was 4 against 5. I was in the team of 4. And the score was 2-2. Seriously, it was a great game. Just that the radiation from the Sun increased the rate of fatigue.

And today. Floorball finals. V14 boys - FIRST. v14 girls - SECOND. Well done! Good game lah. But Benjamin played damn violent lah. Whacked the floorball stick on my wrist and it's swelling now. Ouch.

Hello world, again.

And so today's morning seminar was regarding grooming. Quite enlightening. Through this I realised that I am the 'spring' type. Err. Is this good or bad? I don't know, 'cause my dress sense totally sucks.

And yes, David Hoe was/still is inspirational. Despite from the obstacles caused by a broken family, bad grades when he was young, etc, he managed to overcome nearly all. All the way from Normal Tech to Express stream, and now planning to come to a JC to complete his education. Like WOW.

I think most of us here treat failure as a tripping stone, for example, you did badly for Math doesn't mean that you suck at it. Why not treat failure as a challenge? I failed my Math last year, but through learning and practising, I think it's actually quite fun. At least it's not that bad... Quoting Mr Pan (NACLI), I remembered him talking about trying to like (or at least appreciate) things (that you don't use to like) instead of having the mentality that it is pointless, meaningless. I think the latter's approach towards facing a difficulty is painstakingly dumb, and a total act of cowardice.

Look at David Hoe. Compare yourself with him. Aren't you lucky? Aren't you lucky to have a happy family? Aren't you happy that you have a smooth education? Shouldn't you like study hard, or be good, just to repay your parents?

Let's not take life for granted, yeah? For someday, your love ones will leave you. One by one. What are you going to do then? Regret? No right?

So let's live life to the fullest, baby.

Okay. So it's 0645 now and I'm in the classroom blogging. That's the time I used to wake up. Today's programme will be about grooming and clothing. Followed by group sessions (again). And lastly a talk with David Hoe.

Let's hope that today'd be a fun and enriching day. Yay.

Job or career?

This week is Helmsman week. Regarding careers, scholarships and.. whatever. Went through the Group session today with a bunch of girls and Miss Toh. Well, we meddled with some cards asking what are some jobs that interest you, what kind of jobs would you be interested, etc. And so while I was meddling with the few stack of cards, I began to delve into a state of mind which has been asking me this question since this afternoon.

What is that you want to be in future? What do you want to do?

So before being introduced to all these, I thought that my future would either be business or science. No more other things. But soon after... I start to think that social services, psychology and counselling could be quite interesting. But then another question popped up.

Why science? Why not arts?

I don't know. Just totally have no inclinations towards the artsy stuff. But I don't mind art and craft, or designing. Yeah, Desmond wrote on his blog, asking people to think about taking the arts comb. At least I am still pondering about it. I still have another 4-5 months to make a decision. But the answer is most likely NO. But maybe if there's no grading system, or if there's an elective on such stuff, I wouldn't mind taking it up.

Yo world. Yo. Frequently blogging these days. Am I that free?

So was kinda late today morning. Ran past the school gate, looked at my watch, 7.41 am. And the bell just rang. And so I turned my head and smile at the SCs. *Nehnennypupu, you missed me this time. Ahaha. Losers.*

Nearly thought that my EZ link card will be taken away. Again. And I have to go through the torture of going all the way to the PE dept to see the teachers' faces just to collect it back. (Refer to Subra's post titled "Screw off!" to see what's the whole situation.)

The next big thing today was the Physics test. o0. I don't find it hard. But I think I made loads of careless, or should I say, stupid mistakes. Don't wanna talk about it.

Oh yes. And a channel 8 reporter came down today to give us a talk during EA. She's Dong Su Hwa. Quite pretty. Watched her as a news reporter since young. Heard that she's the wife of Mr Richard Yeo? Not too sure. Cool.

And you guys watched the news? VS is going to offer sports as an O level subject. That's just so cool. Kewl. Like totally. Yeah?

Ok. So this thought just went passed my mind.

I heard from Subra, the CT rep, that the theme for prom nite will most likely be 'RETRO'. And the hotel that it'd be held would most likely be swissotel (did I spell it correctly?). IT WOULD BE SO EXPENSIVE AHHHH!

Well actually, I don't see a point of having a prom nite in the first place, since we will be staying in the college for another 2 years. TWO YEARS. That is 365 * 2 days. And that'd be 24 * 365 *2 hours.

What's the point, you tell me.

Moreover, we will be called IP3 and IP4 by then. So?

Hello, world.

Creating this new blog for no reason, when I'm actually supposed to be practising for tmr's Physics test. Gah. Whatever man.

Oh yes there's a reason. My previous blog was (still is) just too boring and boring. So you get it?
Ha you don't. I'm sure you don't get it. Damn it, I can't concentrate. I can't focus. I want to sleep. No, I want to blog. Yes, blog.

Okay, so my day wasn't that bad. Started the day with a fresh state of mind, setting goals of what to do today. But looks like that's not gonna end with a good ending. But so? I don't know.
